Clearing Acne with Aerolase : A Non-Invasive Treatment Option

ACNÉ

Acne is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit of high prevalence worldwide, with about 70-80% of people suffering from it at some point in their lives
(mostly between the ages of 15 and 17), and it often persists into adulthood, with a higher incidence in women over 20 and under 30, causing social stigmatisation and to some degree negatively influencing quality of life.

Approximately 15-30 % of acne patients need medical treatment due to the severity or duration of the disease.

What causes acne?

In order to properly understand how acne occurs, it must be considered that there are multiple factors that can cause acne, such as:

  • Hyperkeratinisation of the follicles.
  • Bacterial colonisation.
  • Sebum production of the individual
  • Inflammatory mechanisms of the individual
  • Regulatory mechanisms of the individual
  • Diet
  • Genetic factors
  • Non-genetic factors (HABITS)
ACNE Treatments
Conventional topical/oral combination drug treatments can be prolonged and are often associated with poor outcome, lack of lasting remission and possible side effects that can be irritating and unsatisfactory.
However, laser therapy may offer an alternative to conventional acne treatments, particularly for non-responsive or non-compliant patients or in patients with antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains.

Aerolase Neo Elite is a state-of-the-art laser that serves as a complementary tool in any type of skin and any time of the year, to obtain an effective treatment against acne. It has Nd:YAG technology of 650 microseconds and 1064 nm, it is a new type of Nd:YAG laser with a pulse duration less or equal to the thermal relaxation time of the skin and blood vessels, so that the skin has time to cool down between pulses, making it almost painless. It does not require cooling and, due to less thermal damage, its use is associated with lower rates of hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory scarring.

It works on acne by reducing sebum production, inflammation and colonisation of Cutibacterium acnes (P. Acnes) bacteria.

The short 1064nm pulse is not only effective for acne, it can also be used for skin rejuvenation, pigment correction and blood vessel removal, among many other things, so Aerolase acne treatment improves the quality and appearance of the skin in many more ways.
